History of Heathrow Airport : ウィキペディア英語版 | History of Heathrow Airport
In its early years what is now Heathrow Airport was the Great West Aerodrome, sometimes known as Heathrow Aerodrome. ==Before 1920==
* Heathrow was a hamlet, an isolated row of cottages on the northwestern edge of the historic highwaymen's lair of Hounslow Heath, and roughly where Terminal 3 is today.〔Longford Residents' Association, (archived copy ) at the Wayback Machine〕 ''See Heathrow (hamlet) for more about its history.'' * About 1410: The first known mention of Heathrow (spelled ''La Hetherewe''). *1915: Fairey Aviation started assembling and flight testing its aircraft from Northolt Aerodrome. * During the First World War, Hounslow Heath Aerodrome was established as a Royal Flying Corps (RFC) airfield, about south-east of Heathrow, and was the only London aerodrome with customs facilities in 1919 and 1920. After it closed, Croydon Airport became the principal London Airport.〔Sherwood, Philip (1999)〕〔Sherwood, Tim (1999)〕
